SC81

The SC81 continued the theme of evolution rather than revolution and was little more than an aero update over it's championship winning predecessor the SC80.  Besides the obvious full fairing of the rear wheels via the removeable spats the cockpit sides were also raised to tidy up the airflow around the cockpit and over the rear deck.  That apart the design remained relatively unchanged. The model continued the succcess of the all conquering SC80 winning 10 of the 12 British Championship rounds with John Sheldon becoming champion in 1981 and the following year Richard Eyre also used an SC81 to good effect in preference to the initially recalcitrant SC82 taking him to 7 of his 13 wins in his 1982 championship title winning year, the balance being achieved in the revised SC82B.
