SC78

Layout sketch of the SC78 the first factory designed Tiga Sports 2000, penned by Howden Ganley
After a year with the Steve Harvey designed SC77 when they had come off second best to Lola and having received  a firm order for 5 cars from Jack Nelleman the promoter of the Danish S2000 series Howden Ganley felt it necessary to design a new car “when my wife and I went on Holiday I spent four days alone in a study and designed the car”. Whilst Howden felt the SC78 was a good step forward from the SC77 it did not enjoy sporting success in the U.K. at least, where it failed to score a single victory. A Lola clean sweep in 1978 was only prevented by the first round victory of John web in his 1977 Tiga, but following a startline accident at Mallory he too jumped ship and switched to a Lola chassis for the remainder of the season.

Letter below from Tim Schenken to SC77 entrant John Brindley outlining the revisions incorporated into the SC78, but history tells that he wasn't persuaded as he ran a Lola T492 for 1978!
