Fledgling racecar constructor Tiga had just produced their first FF1600 chassis which had proved a success both on the track and commercially when they were aproached by Steve Harvey with a design for a Sports 2000 car for the newly announced Sports 2000 championship for 1977. With a design and a firm order for three cars they agreed to build it and the SC77, the first in a long line of Tiga Sports 2000 designs was born. The two most succesful chassis went to John L Webb and John Brindley who finished 3rd and 5th respectively in the opening season. John Webb continued to campaign his with SC77 in 1978 winning the first round at Silverstone and leading the championship in the car until it was heavily damaged in a startline accident at Mallory Park.
