T592 / T592S

Although clothed in a very similar body to the previous T590 model under the skin the T592 was substantially different.  A completely new and significantly stiffer monocoque was introduced which would continue to be used with very little change though to the 1985 T598 model. The front suspension and steering were also substantially revised with revised roll centres which resulted in a significant improvement in handling. Despite being a significant advance over the T590 it failed to secure a single British Championship win largely owing to the marque's failure to entice any of the leading drivers in the series to run the car, it however fared better in the USA where Lola were increasingly directing their efforts. The cars were re-designated as the T592S for 1982, although it seems that many of the claimed revisions had already been incorporated into the production T592 models of 1981.
